Chapter 17 - Patience

Updated: Jun 13

She waits for her turn patiently.

She thinks, “is this it? Is this where all my dreams might come true or is this where everything will go downhill?”

She waits for her turn patiently.

She goes through life, makes it through friendships, happiness, sadness and education. She reaches a point where she’s required to be an adult. She fears she’ll fail but she’s got to at least try.

She waits for her turn patiently.

She doesn’t have an option, she has to be an adult. She takes it as a challenge and attempts to build a career for herself. She has so much more to do, so many boxes to tick off but worries about her time.

She waits for her turn patiently.

She makes her parents proud, or so she hopes. She holds close the values and manners that she was brought up with. She continues to incorporate them in life in hopes that something good will come one day.

She waits for her turn patiently.

Something did! She found the meaning of happiness, pure happiness, she holds on tight and continues to fight because she’s been yearning for this happiness for years. She’s not turning back, not this time.

She waits for her turn patiently.

She progresses, but life does too. And funny thing about life is, the last stage of ‘progression’ is death. She lost many close loved ones, her heart shatters and breaks, but she’s still got the strength to stand. So, she knows things will be okay one day.

She waits for her turn patiently.

She needs help. She can’t handle her thoughts, she can’t process her feelings. She finds ways to blame herself, secludes herself from those that care and tries to fight this on her own. She just wants to be okay but she can’t do this alone.

She waits for her turn patiently.

She gets help. She feels a little more like herself again. She can smile, but still walks around with a heavy chest. There’s too much going on, too fast. She’s still got hope as she holds on to her last thread of happiness.

She waits for her turn patiently.

She’s losing that thread. She can feel the loss in her heart but the thread is still in her hand. How can she lose something she can physically see is still there? She’s still holding on to the fragile thread. But the thread is now broken, so what is she holding on to?

She waits for her turn patiently.

Just like the thread, she’s now broken too. She needs help again. She can’t handle her thoughts, she can’t process her feelings, but now she can’t breathe either. Is life finally processing for her? She’s almost given up.

She waits for her turn patiently.

She needs mental peace, she needs happiness, she needs stability, she needs to remember to consciously catch her breath. She’s overwhelmed and she’s not okay. But that’s okay because she won’t seclude herself this time, but she’s gotta get through it without the loved ones she’s lost, without the fragile thread, with a heavy chest.

She waits for her turn patiently.

Someday her time will come. She will be alright. She will be at peace, happy, and won’t consciously have to remember to breathe. She will be okay, and that’s when she will reach for the moon and the stars.

She waited for her turn patiently.
